The sacred Char Dham Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimage journeys in India. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, the journey connects four ancient temples dedicated to powerful deities of Hindu tradition.

The pilgrimage includes visits to:

  • Yamunotri Temple – source of the Yamuna River
  • Gangotri Temple – origin of the sacred Ganga
  • Kedarnath Temple – one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva
  • Badrinath Temple – sacred shrine of Lord Vishnu

10 Nights / 11 Days

Char Dham Yatra – Spiritual Himalayan Journey

Day 1: Arrival in Rishikesh – Drive to Barkot
The journey begins in the spiritual town of Rishikesh, often called the gateway to the Himalayas. After breakfast, drive through the scenic Himalayan foothills toward Barkot, a peaceful town located on the banks of the Yamuna River. The drive passes through beautiful mountain landscapes and hill towns such as Mussoorie.
Driving Time: 7–8 hours
Overnight: Barkot


Day 2: Yamunotri Trek and Darshan
Early morning drive to Janki Chatti, the starting point of the pilgrimage trek. From here begin the 6 km trek to Yamunotri Temple, the sacred source of the Yamuna River. Pilgrims traditionally visit Surya Kund, a natural hot spring where offerings are cooked as part of the ritual. After darshan, return to Barkot.

Overnight: Barkot


Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi
Drive through scenic Himalayan valleys toward the historic town of Uttarkashi located along the Bhagirathi River. Visit the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple, an important spiritual center in the region.
Driving Time: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Uttarkashi


Day 4: Gangotri Temple Visit
Drive along the Bhagirathi River valley to the sacred town of Gangotri. Visit the revered Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The temple stands amid towering peaks and deodar forests at an altitude of about 3,100 meters. After darshan, return to Uttarkashi.
Driving Time: 4–5 hours each way
Overnight: Uttarkashi


Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi
Drive through the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas toward the Mandakini valley. The journey passes several sacred river confluences known as Prayags, where Himalayan rivers merge. Arrive in the pilgrimage town of Guptkashi.
Driving Time: 8–9 hours
Overnight: Guptkashi


Day 6: Trek to Kedarnath
Drive to Gaurikund, the starting point of the pilgrimage trek to Kedarnath. From here begin the 16 km trek to Kedarnath Temple, one of the most sacred shrines of Lord Shiva. Situated at 3,583 meters in the high Himalayas, Kedarnath is surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes and glaciers.

Overnight: Kedarnath


Day 7: Kedarnath Darshan – Return Trek
Early morning visit to the temple for darshan and prayers. Later trek down to Gaurikund and drive back to Guptkashi.
Overnight: Guptkashi


Day 8: Guptkashi to Badrinath
Drive toward the final destination of the Char Dham pilgrimage, passing through the mountain town of Joshimath. Arrive at the sacred temple town of Badrinath. Visit the holy Tapt Kund hot springs before evening darshan at Badrinath Temple.
Driving Time: 8–9 hours
Overnight: Badrinath


Day 9: Badrinath and Mana Village
Morning temple visit followed by exploration of nearby sacred sites. Visit Mana Village, the last Indian village before the Tibetan border. Other highlights include Vyas Gufa, Bhim Pul, and the origin of the Saraswati River.
Overnight: Badrinath


Day 10: Badrinath to Rudraprayag
Drive through beautiful Himalayan valleys toward Rudraprayag. This sacred town lies at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.
Driving Time: 6–7 hours
Overnight: Rudraprayag


Day 11: Return to Rishikesh
Drive back to Rishikesh along the Alaknanda River valley, passing through the sacred confluence at Devprayag where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers merge to form the Ganges. The trip concludes in Rishikesh.
